SVP, Commercial Lending/Business Banking

Location: La Crosse, WI

Position Profile

As a direct report to the Chief Executive Officer and receiving direction from the Board of Directors this position is responsible for management, supervision, and direction of all business banking, commercial loan, and non-loan activities. Responsibilities include: representing the bank internally and externally in developing and monitoring client and prospect relationships, actively participating in the origination and structuring of client’s transactions, and developing the annual strategic operating plan to meet or exceed company expectations.  He/she will lead and manage business development efforts in growing the Bank’s market share in La Crosse, Sparta, and Marshfield markets. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring maximum overall profitability and credit quality related to commercial lending activities and assists in the detection of deterioration in loan quality.  This leader will also review and ensure all department compliance, audit, policy, and regulatory objectives are met.  This position is also a voting member of the Officers Loan Committee.

Position Requirements


  1. A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, plus additional lending and compliance related training.
  2. Up to ten years bank lending, loan review and/or compliance experience or equivalent education in bank lending, loan review/compliance procedures and policies.
  3. Satisfactory credit report and background check.
  4. Courteous, proactive and professional customer service attitude.
  5. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, high level of analytical and organizational skills.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Requires the ability to practically apply knowledge in policy and procedure development.
  8. Ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential customer and Bank information.
  9. Ability to deal effectively with time pressures and stress.
  10. Effective problem-solving skills.
  11. Must be a self-starter and independent thinker.
