Vice President, Compliance

Location: Manitowoc, WI

Headquartered in Manitowoc, WI, our client bank has eighteen locations throughout the state.  As a strong and growing independent bank, they are looking for a leader to join the team. Position Profile

Reporting directly to and partnering with the Enterprise Risk Manager, the Vice President of Compliance will take a lead role in reviewing and evaluating Compliance processes through identification, assessment and management reporting and coordination.  Key responsibilities include:

  • Administer and oversee the bank’s Consumer Compliance Program.  Interpret federal and state laws and regulations as they apply to the credit, operations, and marketing practices of the Bank.
  • Perform consumer compliance audits and report results to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Audit, monitor and review compliance with all applicable consumer laws and regulations across various lines of business and implement corrective actions as necessary. Serve as resident expert regarding changes in laws and regulations and their impact on the Bank’s policies, procedures and business practices.
  • Coordinating and/or conducting training regarding compliance regulations through all appropriate avenues in the organization.
  • Investigate and coordinate the resolution of compliance problems, questions, or complaints received from branch personnel, customers or government regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate and assist during regulatory examinations and maintain follow-up. Also, take active role in coordination of third party audits.
  • Participate in the development of new products to ensure proper consideration of regulatory issues affecting the product.
  • Coordinate and ensure that HMDA data is properly filed with the appropriate government agency.
  • Coordinate and actively participate in OCC CRA examinations, analyze results and recommend corrective action consistent with federal regulations and bank policy.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Finance/Banking/Accounting or equivalent job experience, with a minimum of 5 to 10 years of current compliance experience as it relates to lending, retail and CRA.  A broad background in compliance, the ability to manage people and processes, excellent communication skills and strong comfort level in interacting at all levels of the organization as well as with regulators and auditors are essential skill sets. A detail oriented, process improvement work style is also a must.  The successful candidate will be a hands on leader who can train, coach and motivate others as well as work alongside them to get the job done.
