SVP, Commercial Lending

Our client is a locally owned/privately held bank founded in 2008 with a strategic vision to meet the needs of privately held businesses and commercial real estate investors.  The successful execution of this strategic focus has led to results that have consistently exceeded budgeted projections.  The Bank has grown to approximately $275 million in assets and is very well capitalized.  Financial results in loan growth, return on assets and efficiency ratio significantly outperform peer averages.  The Bank offers a full menu of products and services that meet the needs of privately held businesses including online banking, mobile banking and cash management services.  The Bank’s strategic plans include an intention to remain independent and continue to operate out of one office.

Position Profile

This newly created position will be a key component in meeting the growth plans of the bank.  The candidate filling this position will have an opportunity to be part of a leadership succession plan with the goal of developing into an executive level leader.  Initially, the Senior Vice President, Commercial Lender will be joining a team of 3 other lenders to manage and grow an enviable $235 million portfolio with an approximate make up of 20% C&I and 80% CRE loans. The bank has a net commercial, new business annual growth goal of $10 to 12 million for each commercial banker. This lender will focus on loans and other revenue generating products while developing and expanding client relationships. This position is responsible for selling across a full suite of cash management products and services and maintaining personal involvement with key accounts.  The lender is required to employ a variety of business development techniques and sound credit analysis to serve new and existing customers.  He/she will be knowledgeable of commercial credit lines as well as a variety of other loan and bank products to best serve the credit and deposit needs of clients.  This individual will be active in his/her center of influence; continually building a banking trust in present and future customers.  He/she must be comfortable making business development presentations to a wide variety of business types and cross selling commercial/cash management products.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate is a well-respected lender with an established, successful presence in the market place and a robust center of influence.  A proven commercial lending track record working with a portfolio of at least $30MM; comprised of relationships with companies with annual revenue of $1 million to $20 million and a minimum of 10 years sales and relationship management experience are required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related discipline is a must.  The successful candidate will also possess a strong background in commercial credit analysis with formal credit training. He/she must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Strong business/sales acumen and a complete understanding of the art of making a sales call and relationship based sales with superb follow up are essential. Experience combining customer facing sales activities and relationship building with leading/managing other lenders as well as broad leadership experience in the banking sector is a plus.
