Director of Finance

Location: La Crosse, WI

Position Profile

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Finance and leading a team of 4, the Director of Finance is responsible for managing financial analysis for the business and operational units of the organization. The incumbent will work with business leaders to develop and manage to financial plans and budgets. Additionally, this role is accountable for the financial performance measurement and management process. This individual will participate in developing business plans, resource modeling and financial guidance for business units, as well as providing financial/accounting support by managing and monitoring revenue and capital expense budgets. Analyzing revenues/expenditures and providing financial reporting is also a key responsibility of this role. Additionally, the director will oversee unit department costs, revenue reports, forecasts, and plans; as well as working with accounting to establish cost-accounting methodology for each business unit.  Other responsibilities include reviewing cost allocations and analyzing product and service costs and the distribution among cost centers. Also, this role conducts cost benefit and ROI analysis, evaluating the feasibility, profitability, and cost effectiveness of existing or new products, projects and services.  He/she will make presentations of financial findings and recommendations to senior management.  As a leader, the director fosters a culture of continuous financial improvement and provides leadership and financial guidance to business unit owners, encouraging employee participation, teamwork, and communication.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will have strong strategic leadership skills and the potential to grow into an executive level role.  He/she will exhibit superior communication skills and project management acumen with the ability to lead and collaborate with cross functional teams and leaders. Proven ability to lead, coach and manage performance of team members is key. 5 to 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, in the financial services arena, with working knowledge of general ledger systems and cost accounting concepts are a must. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required.
