Commercial Credit Analyst/Commercial Banking Associate

Location: Carmel/Indianapolis, IN

Our client is a growing, state-chartered financial institution with over $700 million in assets committed to assisting community banks with their technological and financial service needs for over a quarter of century. In addition to specializing in providing correspondent banking products and services to community banks, we also provide bank holding company loans, over line participations, leasing, secondary mortgage products, cash letter/cash management, municipal bond underwriting, investment trading, safekeeping and portfolio accounting, international services and bank card products. These services support community banks, providing them with effective tools to be competitive and best assist their customers. This client has been based out of Madison, WI since 1981 and has offices Des Moines, IA, Chicago, IL, and Indianapolis, IN.

Position Profile

Position Requirements

This role supports the local commercial banking team efforts in underwriting, evaluation and review of primarily commercial real estate loans with some exposure to C&I, agricultural and bank holding company borrowing. The analyst will effectively communicate and collaborate with lenders for due diligence of credit requests and assist them with monitoring the loan portfolio.  He/she will prepare quality, detailed financial analysis including cash flow models and collateral evaluations in order to identify potential credit risks and quantify repayment ability; making recommendations in accordance with sound banking practices in order to minimize risk. He/she will have customer contact from a relationship and lender support perspective and may participate in on-site client meetings with lenders. Training will be provided in order to add leasing quote responsibilities to this role.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing credit materials to determine quality and sufficiency of information for new and existing loan relationships
  • Evaluating complex profit plans, operating records and financial statements
  • Interpreting and applying corporate financial policies, government legislation and accounting theory
  • Managing databases to analyze existing data and forecasts, as well as new credit opportunities
  • Developing and completing underwriting presentations for internal and external audiences.

Compensation & Benefits

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business, preferably in Accounting, Banking or Finance with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the commercial arena, reviewing financial statements, exception reporting and utilizing strong excel skills.  Key success factors include: the demonstrated capacity to work within a fast paced, fluid and proactive environment while adding value to clients. Excellent qualitative analytical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills are a must. Proficiency with the use of the MS Suite of products and working knowledge of underwriting/evaluation risk software. Experience using Moody’s Lending Cloud, preferred.
